Ravello

Ravello, its name is immortalized in Boccaccio’s Decameron one of the pearl of the Amalfi coast. At 350 meters above sea level, where the light effects and magical architecture create a vision of rare intensity. The Duomo (Cathedral, 11th century) dedicated to the cult of Saint Pantaleone whose blood is conserved and miraculously liquefies each year, on July 27th, day of Patron’s feast. Is rich with artistic treasures like the grand bronze central door, it is composed of fifty-four panels that show scenes of the Christ’s passion.

Villa Rufolo it was built one of the wealthiest family of Ravello, by the Rufolo family. The garden is one of the most beautiful in Campania, immersed in a verdant park of exotic and Mediterranean flora. It’s on this dream cornice that Richard Wagner, found his inspiration for the scenography of the second act of Parsifal. Since more than 50 years, concerts of symphonic and chamber music are given each summer in his honour on the very suggestive cornice.

Villa Cimbrone was bought by Ernest William Beckett, a noble Englishman. It has hosted many celebrated personalities, from Winston Churchill to Greta Garbo. The Belvedere with the most beautiful views in the world. San Giovanni del Toro and Santa Maria a Gradillo Churches both also merit a visit.

The Coral Museum, which exhibits coral, cameos, decorated mother-of-pearl and shells from Roman times, also interesting. Other than Wagner, musicians, writers and artists have found in Ravello their artistic inspiration

Castiglione is the beach of Ravello and takes its name from the hamlet of Castiglione, a small number of houses which is located above the road. Bounded on three sides by high cliffs and a beautiful view to the steeple of the Church of Santa Maria Maddalena of Atrani, this sandy beach has a length of no less than 112 meters and a depth of over 25 meters, which can accommodate many swimmers. In summer, a small beach provides basic services, making a pleasant stay on the beach. South-east gradually loses the sun in the early hours of the afternoon.
